In 2024, Lou won multiple awards for his role in Young Hearts: "Best Performance" at the New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Film Festival; Iris Prize for Best Performance, Jury Winner "Out at the Movies," Best Performance at the San Diego, Long Beach Gay and Lesbian films Festivals.

Lou was selected from more than 1,500 boys from the age of 12. The youngest was 11 up to the age of 18. It was an open casting with 15 boys for 30 minutes that was quite intense. The character of Alexander -- 14-year-old Marius De Saeger -- was cast first. Luckily, Lou came into the casting one week later, and the Director immediately knew that he could potentially be the main character, "watching the two boys, we knew they had chemistry already. They quickly became best friends."



The boys never worked with written dialogue during rehearsals, and it was about energy. Cast & Director went bowling together to hang out. Conversations were about emotions and what love is. What makes you emotional? The boys had such different stories.
