Description
Two bands of boys, roughly eight to fourteen years old, from neighboring Irish villages, battle each other daily since, well, there is little better to do. Prisoners of War undergo the "torture" of having all their clothing buttons cut off.
Depending on whom one's parents are, this can be more serious than it sounds. Yet, might the leaders of the two gangs (Gregg Fitzgerald and John Coffey) ever prove capable of understanding one another, forming a truce?
A charming little film that seems to get better with each viewing. Based on the book Les Guerre des boutons by Louis Pergaud.

Notes
The controversy: The parents of one of the boys in this film took a court action to prevent this film being released. The reason for their action were that their son's naked buttocks could be seen in the film. The action was dismissed on the grounds that they (the buttocks) didn't appear on screen long enough to allow identification and also that the parents should have raised their objection before the scene was filmed.
