After his film career was over, Philip was inducted in 1989 into the Alabama Walk of Fame for his role of Jem in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), where is worked with Gregory Peck. One of AFI's top ten films of all time, we learned later that Phillip and Mary Badham (who played Scout) were very antagonistic towards each other on the set, making some of their scenes together difficult to film. Curious note: Philip's sister, Eugenia, became the stand-in actress for Mary Badham.
