Adam Rich is an American TV actor noted for his role as Nicholas Bradford, the youngest son on the television series Eight Is Enough, which ran for five seasons (1977?1981).

Rich won the role of Nicholas at the age of eight. After Eight Is Enough, he had roles in Irwin Allen's short-lived 1981 TV series Code Red on ABC and the 1983 sitcom Gun Shy on CBS.

He made guest appearances on other television shows including The Love Boat (1979), CHiPS (1982), Fantasy Island (1978 & 1982), The Six Million Dollar Man (1976), St. Elsewhere (1986), and Baywatch (1993). Rich also did voice work on the cartoon series Dungeons & Dragons, along with "Eight Is Enough" co-star Willie Aames.

Adam was arrested several times from 1983-1991 for drugs, shoplifting & breaking, and entering. In April 1991, he smashed a pharmacy window in an attempt to steal drugs. He was arrested and bailed out by his TV dad, Dick Van Patten. He was almost immediately rearrested, this time for shoplifting. He pled no contest to both charges.

Rich started smoking marijuana at age 10 and dropped out of high school at age 17, in 1986. On Feb. 20, 2003, he was charged with DUI after nearly hitting a police car on a closed-off section of I-10 in Los Angeles on Dec. 18, 2002.

In 2005 Rich Was number 73 on vh1's "100 Greatest Kid Stars."

Former TV brother Willie Aames (who had also struggled with alcohol and drugs) met Rich after one of his arrests and confronted him with the words "Dude, you're an alcoholic. I can say that because I'm one." Aames urged Rich to get into rehab and get sober.

In 1996 "Might" magazine ran a spoof on dead celebrities and included Adam's name in their list, which was picked up and run by other media. In fact, the article was just a spoof and Adam was very much alive. Nonetheless, many people are still surprised when they find out he is alive today.

His death:
Adam Rich, who was known for starring in the late Seventies series Eight Is Enough, died due to the ?effects of fentanyl,? according to a report from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner?s Office.
