Percy Hanes WhitePercy Hynes White was born on October 8th, 2001, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, the only child of writer and director Joel Thomas Hynes and screenwriter and producer Sherry White. He described his childhood self as being "a creative kid" and attributes his parents with providing him with a nurturing environment that encouraged creativity and self-expression from an early age.

As a child, Hynes White studied for two years at the performing arts group in St. John's. As part of his preparation for his role on Wednesday (2022), Hynes White learned a variety of new skills, including archery, painting and fencing, as well as new dance moves.

He had long been a fan of Wednesday's executive producer, Tim Burton. His father used to read Burton's poetry to him when he was a child. When Hynes White's mother called to tell him he had landed the role of Xavier Thorpe on Wednesday, he thought it must be a joke, especially since the day was April 1. "I hung up and went back to sleep," he recalled later.

Percy Hanes WhitePercy Hynes White has been acting since the age of 2, beginning with performances in short films in and around his hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland. At just age 2, he starred as baby Morgan Lombard in Moera: Fact or Fantasy? alongside his mother. He made his first screen debut at the age of 7, playing six year old Keith in the 2008 Canadian film, Down to the Dirt (2008), based upon his fathers' first novel of the same name.

By age 9, he was playing the lead in short film Forty-Five and Five (2011) and soon was chosen for leading roles in other short films, including Winners (2012), and Little Man (2013). His first television debut began in 2013, where he played Joey Crocker in The Slattery Street Crockers (2013).

In 2013, Hynes White was featured in The Grand Seduction (2013) alongside Brendan Gleeson, for which had premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The following year in 2014, Hynes White was featured in Cast No Shadow (2014), which won multiple awards at the Atlantic Film Festival awards, such as best film, director, screenplay, along with Hynes White's win for best actor. In the same year, he starred opposite of Ben Stiller and Ricky Gervais in the 2014 American fantasy film, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2013) as young Cecil "CJ" Fredericks.

By 2016, Hynes White was well on his way to the big screen again as he gained a lead role in the psychological thriller, Edge of Winter (2016) opposite Tom Holland and Joel Kinnaman.

Percy Hanes WhiteFrom 2016 through early 2020, Hynes White appeared in numerous television series consecutively while appearing in films, including a role on Jordan Peele's reboot of the cult classic The Twilight Zone (2019) for CBS All Access, making an appearance on Canadian medical drama Transplant for NBC Universal, appearing for two seasons on Between for Netflix, and appearing in the limited series 11.22.63 for Hulu starring James Franco.

Most notably, in 2017, Hynes White's breakout role was starring as mutant Andy Strucker in The Gifted (2017 - 2019), an X-Men spin-off series, opposite Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, and Natalie Alyn Lind.

In January 2023, an anonymous Twitter account accused Hynes White of sexual misconduct during his late teenage years in Toronto. The claims alleged that he and friends hosted parties where underage girls were given alcohol or drugs, that he pursued sexual relationships with minors, and that he sent or shared explicit images without consent. Additional accusations included use of racial slurs and indifference to unsafe situations involving intoxicated peers.[18][19][20] The allegations spread widely on social media but were not corroborated by legal action or formal investigation.
