Description
Two groups of pre- to mid-teen boys engage in a mock war..., which leads to tragic results. Ferenc Molnar's play is set in early 20th Century Budapest. It depicts a soothingly naive pre-first-war world when comradeship and honor were still known words. A group of boys fights to keep their playground. A rare Hungarian classic that could be said to be a more serious version of "War of the Buttons". Released in the United States as "The War on Paul Street" and nominated for an Academy Award as Best Foreign Language Film 1969.
